Learning Goals & Priorities
The Chinook Board of Education created the Chinook School Division Strategic Plan, giving direction to our schools as they do their planning. These plans are also aligned with the provincial Education Sector Strategic Plan (ESSP).

Within the 2020-21 Division Strategic Plan, the Board has highlighted the following priority for Chinook to focus on:
  • Strategies and structures will be systematically implemented across the division to Reopen Chinook.

The long term outcomes for the overall 2019-20 Division Strategic Plan are:

  • By June 2021, 80% of students will be meeting or exceeding Chinook expectations in reading, writing and math.
  • By 2021, Chinook's 3-year average graduation rate will be 90% and the 5-year average graduation rate will be 93%.
  • By 2021, 90% of Chinook students exiting kindergarten will score within the appropriate range in the cognitive domain, language and communication domains as measured by the Early Years Evaluation (EYE).
  • By June 2021, collaboration between First Nations, Métis and Inuit and non-First Nations, Métis and Inuit partners will result in significant improvement in First Nations, Métis and Inuit student engagement and will increase the three-year graduation rate from 35% in June 2012 to at least 65% and the five-year graduation rate to at least 75%.
  • By June 2021, the Board will refine strategies that will annually ensure efficiency of budget, compliance to policy and legislation, as well as alignment to the ESSP.
