On September 26, 2023, the Chinook SD Industry Education Program organized an opportunity for 23 students in Grades 9-12 to explore potential careers in Agriculture Science. Participants had the chance to delve into interactive learning experiences encompassing plant science, pesticide application, herbicide management, tillage, marketing, and soil science.
The eight-month Agricultural Science Certificate program, hosted by Great Plains College, was highlighted as a path to kickstart a career in the agriculture sector. Students were invited to the college for a firsthand look at the program's offerings and to engage in hands-on agricultural activities.
Following lunch, the group embarked on a tour of the Swift Current Research and Development Station, gaining insights into job opportunities and the roles of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada staff in various agricultural research areas.
Thank you to Keely Chalk from Great Plains College and Kerry LaForge from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada for Connecting Students With Their Futures.
