Day 1

TODAY AT IRWIN: 

• Happy Birthday today to Abby Park and Happy Birthday to Lance Balliett who celebrated over the weekend. 

• Ice Hut today during morning break.

• Congratulations to the Sr. Boys and Sr. Girls basketball teams for their excellent efforts at the Speedy Creek Hoops Classic tournament this past weekend.  The boys were B side champions and the girls A side champions!

• We would like to send out a few Thank You’s for all the help to make the basketball tournament a success:

• THANK YOU to Khloei Larson, Zienna Zanidean, and Lynneya Watson for scorekeeping every game that was held at Irwin.  They did a great job. 

• THANK YOU to Miss Gillanders, who trained and secured scorekeepers for the tournament.  

• THANK YOU to Ms Burnett for help setting up and taking down and Mr. Grainger for help with the score clock!

• THANK YOU to the staff who helped the tournament run so smoothly at our school.

• A big special shout out to the 2 best fans in the stands this weekend: Nixon and Reagan! They cheered their hearts out for the Senior Girls and even had the referees smiling and fist bumping! Way to show your school spirit boys!! 

• Irwin School is happy to host Metis author and storyteller Cort Dogniez today.  Cort is here to present to the K - Grade 4 students.  The Parent Presentation will take place this evening in the library from 6:30-7:30.  Everyone is welcome to attend. ​

• The Intermediate Boys Basketball team will host Success School today after school. 

• There will be Chess Club today and tomorrow in the Library from 12:00-12:25 Please note the Chess Club will be canceled on Friday. 

• The January Assembly will take place tomorrow morning at 11am.   Everyone is welcome to attend.

• Turn-Around Day is on Wednesday.   No School for students

• Term 1 Report Cards will be published in MSS on Wednesday.     Paper copies will be sent home with students on Thursday.   Mrs. Robson’s Kindergarten class will receive their printed report cards on Friday.

• Intermediate Boys Basketball practice Thursday morning at 7:30am.

• Grade 8 Ski Trip to Elkwater is this Friday.  

• For the month of January, OM Irwin school will be supporting local families by collecting items for the new Community Fridge which is located on the corner of 2nd Avenue NE and Cheadle Street East, across from the Great Plains College. The Community Fridge supports anyone who is struggling to access food and personal items. Each Friday, the collected items will be dropped off by staff and students at the Community Fridge. We ask that each grade group bring donations to their classrooms during their specific week. This week, donations will be brought in by the Grade 4 students.
