SCCHS Initiative Wins Public Schools of Saskatchewan Citizenship Award

On June 6, Public Schools of Saskatchewan announced its fifth annual Student Citizenship Award winners, with the Swift Current Comprehensive High School student-led initiative “The Environment, Clothing and Nutrition” winning in the high school category. Congratulations to SCCHS!
Grade 12 student, Emma Murdoch, has been leading the initiative and attended the Chinook Board of Education Meeting with SCCHS Principal, Kelsey Tsougrianis, on Monday, June 9 to provide information and an update on the Eco Club, SCCHS Thrift Store and Comp Eats: Community Fridge and Classroom Eats. The Chinook Board was very pleased to be able to present a letter of congratulations from the Public Schools of Saskatchewan to Emma and Ms. Tsougrianis. The Board members and senior admin provided food donations for the Comp Eats program as well. For information on this winning initiative, please watch their video!
The citizenship awards recognize initiatives undertaken by public school student groups or classes that support citizenship or character building within their school and community. Three $1000 awards are presented for Grade 1 to 8 projects and three for high school projects. Public Schools of Saskatchewan represents 17 public school boards in the province and advocates for inclusive public education in Saskatchewan.
