National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Informational graphic explaining the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation as a federal holiday honoring residential school survivors and their families, observed September 30th.

The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is held annually on September 30th.

Chinook schools are invited to observe this day on September 26th, as there is no school on September 30th.

The annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is an opportunity for conversations about Residential Schools that can set the stage for anti-racism and anti-bullying education for the coming school year.

First Nations, local governments, schools, and communities are asked to come together in the spirit of reconciliation and hope for generations of children to come. We call upon everyone to listen to the stories of survivors and their families, and to remember those who did not make it.
