Hammerton's Music Hype
For those of you who are new to Central, I am Mrs Hammerton and I teach the Arts Ed program in Grades 1-8. This includes music, visual art, dance and drama. Please do not hesitate to contact me at school if you have any questions or concerns.
I am happy to be back at school starting off the new school year with all our Cougars and we already have some exciting music events planned.
The bucket drumming club will be joining forces with students from Irwin, Centennial and Fairview schools and will be travelling to Regina on October 27th for the Telemiracle auditions. If your child is in the bucket drumming club they will be bringing home details this week.
This fall we will be making a video to go with our school song "Cougar Strong". This will involve all students in the school as well as the choir and some individuals.
I spent a week of the summer attending a Marimba workshop in Seattle and I am looking forward to introducing some Marimba music into the classrooms at Central.
This year I am planning to introduce recorder into the music curriculum in Grade 3 as well as Grade 4. Details will be sent home during the first week of school.
Choir will meet on a day 2 and as well as performing at Remembrance Day assembly and Christmas concert will sing the anthem at a Bronco game early in 2020.
I am looking forward to working with all our Cougars again this year!.
