"Celebrating OUR Cultures" Event in Maple Creek
On May 30, Board trustees and members of the division leadership team joined students, staff, families and community members for a celebration of cultures at Maple Creek Composite School. The event kicked off in the morning with a keynote address from Patrick Mitsuing, who spoke on the theme “Make an impact in your community and the world”.
Nekaneet First Nation, Great Plains College and Chinook School Division planned and supported the event to recognize and celebrate the diverse cultural identities within our communities, through shared experiences, connection and celebration. The day consisted of tradition, heritage, performance, food and fun and included Chinese, Filipino, First Nations, Hutterian, Métis and Western pavilions.
