Pioneer Coop Bursaries

These bursaries provide an opportunity for Grade Twelve students from Swift Current and District.  Bursaries offered are 6 - $500.00 yearly bursaries (3 to Swift Current Comprehensive High and Maverick School and 3 to surrounding schools at Gull Lake, Kyle, Herbert, Vanguard, Hodgeville, Hazlet, Chaplin, Kincaid, Central Butte, Abbey, Cabri, Ponteix, Frontier, Consul, Maple Creek, Fox Valley, Leader, Shaunavon and Eastend. 

In addition, Pioneer Co-op will provide 2 - $500.00 Grade 12 bursaries for staff or dependents of staff who have been in the employ of Pioneer Co-op for at least 6 months – one for the City of Swift Current and one for the branches of Pioneer Co-op.  

GOVERNING GUIDE

1.         Administered as follows: 

            (a)       A committee made up of a chairman and one or two others from the Board of Directors and/or Management and/or citizen at large selected by the Donor.

            (b)       Usual co-operation with the faculty of the participating schools. 

2.         Each bursary has a cash value of $500.00. 

3.         To take advantage of the bursary, the students must complete the number of credits required provincially for grade 12 graduation. 

4.         The awarding of the bursary will be determined as follows: 

            (a) General Academic Record

            (b) Personality of the Student

            (c) Person most likely to succeed

            (d) Participation in the extra curricular life of the school and community

            (e) Purchases at Pioneer Co-op in amount of $3,000.00 per family/year.

                  (f) Applicant must attach a short essay on what the Co-op means to them and their community. 

5.         Any decision of the committee will be final. 

6.         Bursary must be used to attend an accredited University or a Technical Institute

7.         The bursary must be used within two years that it is awarded and the bursary will not be paid until student verifies registration at the accredited institution. 

8.         An alternate candidate will be identified in the event a selected candidate will not be receiving a bursary. 

 9.        The committee will meet in May to consider applications, hoping that both Christmas and Easter marks are available.
