Sara: "The most challenging part of today was letting go. Saying yes to things that are normally planned and well scripted. The beautiful part of it all was watching the interactions of the students. The problem solving and conflict resolution skills were put back in their hands and they played beautifully! New activities were tried and they also played with different people than they may normally choose."
Tracey: "We started off the day by surprising them with this opportunity and telling them what the day would be like. They were so excited when we explained they would play all day long. It was definitely a bit of release on our part, but we believed in the philosophy behind what we were doing. It was such a fun day watching the children interact and plan what they were going to do. It wasn't chaotic. Rules were still the rules, but the students managed themselves for the most part. Many times throughout the day the students said this was the best day ever! Sometimes we need to step back and let kids show us what they need. They took this opportunity and they made the most of it. I am so proud of all of them!"
