A school bus safety reminder to keep all of our students safe: When our school buses are dropping students off and picking students up, they will have their red lights flashing and their stop arms out. Because the roads in town are not divided highways, no matter what direction you are travelling, you MUST STOP no closer than 15 feet from the bus. You may not proceed until the lights have been turned off and the driver deactivates the stop arm. According to SGI, if you drive by a school bus that is loading or unloading, the minimum fine is $360, and you could be fined that amount per bus. So please do not drive by a school bus in a school zone. Thank you very much!
