| Chinook Celebrates Education Week with Learning for All |
|
Education Week in Saskatchewan is October 16-22, 2011. Chinook School Division strives to provide an engaging environment that meets the holistic needs of children while achieving curriculum expectations. In alignment with this mission, Chinook is taking the opportunity to promote “Learning for All” during Education Week, emphasizing the Math Momentum and Balanced Literacy initiatives. Chinook has identified literacy and math as priorities for curriculum focus, stemming from assessment results in those subject areas. Recently, Math Momentum was announced as the new initiative with a plan that will be carried out for the next three years. The goal of Math Momentum is to have 25% more students meeting or exceeding Chinook expectations in math by June 2014. The Balanced Literacy initiative was implemented in schools over the past three years, resulting in 79% of students meeting expectations, and is now in the maintenance phase. Education Week provides an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of schools and their students, and demonstrate the quality of Saskatchewan’s public education system.
