Provincial Students' Day- September 6

The Minister of Education, Hon. Donna Harpauer, has proclaimed September 6, 2011 as Provincial Students' Day. "The students and youth of Saskatchewan are our future. Having a special day set aside to recognize this fact would contribute to their importance and help to alert all drivers that students are back in school and extra care for their safety should be considered."

The Vision of the Chinook Board of Education is stated as follows:

The Chinook School Division will be a good place to go to school and go to work where students are empowered to become knowledgeable, skilled and responsible citizens who recognize the value of a democratic and prosperous society.

The commitment of Chinook is to ensure the success of each student. This is pursued by establishing priorities that are supported by focused professional development for teachers and staff, by continuously monitoring the progress of individual students, and by making adjustments quickly when students are not successful.  Depending on the needs of each child, support will be provided at the classroom, school or system level and possibly a combination of all three.

Our children and youth are indeed our most important resource. Their success depends on schools, parents and communities working together.
